This entirely diamond studded crown was made for King George IV who was crowned in 1821.

The basic crown was made by the Crown Jewellers Rundell, Bridge & Rundell, who also supplied the gems. At this time it was usual for the gems to be hired for the occasion. Interestingly, the bill for making the crown was £735, while the hire of the gems (at 10% of the value) was £6,525!

Later the stones were returned, and the unstoned shell of the crown is now on display at HM Tower of London.

Cast in fine english pewter, highly polished and adorned with Bohemian Crystals.
