In 1602 Rudolf II commissioned a new crown to be made in Prague by the Court Goldsmith. On the demise of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806 it became known as The Crown of The Emperor of Austria.

The crown is set with diamonds, rubies and pearls, amid enamelled bands and settings, surmounted with a huge uncut Sapphire, and is in the form of a "Mitre", with four relief panels depicting the three coronations of Rudolf II.

The Fourth panel depicts the victory of Rudolf over the Turks. The crown is kept at the Schatzkammer Museum, Vienna.
