Information On The Original Coin:
This Roman Denarius coin was minted in silver in Rome. The facsimile coin bears the inscriptions IMP CAES TRAIAN HADRIANO OPT AVG GER DAC / PARTHIC, featuring an image of Trajan and Hadrian shaking hands.
Information On The Coins Commissioner:
Emperor Hadrian took over the throne succeeding his uncle, Trajan, in AD 117. One of his most notable contributions was commissioning the construction of a wall in AD 122. This frontier wall, known as Hadrian’s Wall, separated the Roman province from the uncolonized Caledonians, spanning from the Solway Firth to the River Tyne. Additionally, Hadrian is recognized for the triumphal gate at Antalya in Southern Turkey, the Pantheons in Rome and Athens, various defensive structures in Germany, and the establishment of the new city Hadrianopolis (which is now known as Adrianople or Edirne) located in Thrace.
