George IV Diadem Miniature by Crowns & Regalia
Product Description:
Introducing the George IV State Diadem Miniature, a captivating replica of one of the most iconic and cherished pieces of the royal family. Crafted with exquisite attention to detail, this miniature diadem captures the elegance and beauty of the original piece.
The original diadem is adorned with 1,333 dazzling diamonds, including a stunning 4-carat pale yellow brilliant at the centre of the front cross. The diamonds are expertly set, creating a sparkle that catches the light.
Originally created for George IV's coronation in 1821, the diadem has since been worn by queen regent and consorts, including Queen Adelaide. Its design incorporates the national emblems of England, Scotland, and Ireland, symbolising the unity of the United Kingdom. Despite its feminine association, the diadem's origins lie in George IV's extravagant coronation attire, which he wore over a large velvet "Spanish" hat during the grand ceremonies.
The order for the diadem was placed with Rundells in 1820, and the work was completed by May of that year. Its design reflects an earlier plan for George IV's Imperial State Crown, which included national emblems instead of fleurs-de-lis. The intricate diamond sprays and crosses, crafted in a delicate and transparent style of setting, remain undisturbed since its creation, showcasing the mastery of craftsmanship.
