Information On The Original Coin:
The King John Penny is a coin that signifies King John's tenure both as the Lord of Ireland during his father's reign and later as the King of England. Coins were minted in his name in Ireland during his title as the Lord of Ireland. Additionally, during his rule as the King of England, there were numerous provincial mints operating in tandem with the primary mint situated in the Tower of London. This particular facsimile coin originates from the Tower of London mint. Inscriptions on the coin read ""HENRICVS REX"" and ""ABEL ON LVNDE"".
Information On The Coins Commissioner:
King John, born in the year 1167, was one of the younger sons of King Henry II. He ascended to the throne in 1199 after the death of his elder brother, Richard I, who was fondly known as ""Coeur de Lion"" or ""Lionheart"". King John's reign was marked with significant challenges and conflicts, with one of the most notable events being the issuance of the Magna Carta in 1215. This charter is often considered a founding document of English liberties. King John's reign was cut short when he passed away in 1216 at the age of 59. His demise led to his eldest son, Henry III, who was just ten years old at the time, succeeding him as the King of England.
