Inspired by a necklace designed and made by Henry Wilson (1864-1934) in about 1905. The original was made in gold, set with opals, pearls and emeralds and decorated with an enamel pendant. Henry Wilson, like many other Arts and Crafts designers, trained originally as an architect. He became interested in metals in the early 1890s, and went on to teach at the Royal College of Art. One of Wilson's biggest influences was nature, as can be seen in the flower motif in the piece.
