Vine Necklace

Inspired by the Roman Empire and the Bacchus the god of wine and pleasure, this necklace evokes the simple elegance of Roman jewellery.  A skeletal grape leaf moves freely along the D-shaped chain and the necklace is fastened at the front with a hook near a cluster of lapis lazuli beads in the form of grapes.  This design was the winner in the Fine Jewellery section of the Ancestors Student Jewellery Design Competition 2009 and was created by Nicola Dessent of Buckinghamshire New University.
