Information On The Original Coin:
This Roman Colonial coin could have been mistaken in Britain for a Denarius. It was struck in the regions of Pontius and Bosporus (now North West Turkey). The facsimilie coin shows the bust of NERO with the words ETOYC KR on one side and the bust of POLEMO II on the reverse.

Information On The Coins Commissioner:
Nero was initially a just ruler but, largely due to the influence of those around him, he became increasingly cruel and unpredictable. He is often blamed for a massive fire in Rome in 64 AD. Additionally, it was during his reign that Boadicea or Boudicca led the unsuccessful British rebellion against the Roman occupation. This rebellion resulted in the deaths of over 80,000 Britons, compared to Roman losses of fewer than 400.
