The penny coins produced during the reign of Queen Victoria fall into three distinct categories. The ""Young Head"" pennies first came into circulation in 1839, followed by the ""Jubilee"" series which was issued between 1887 and 1893. The final set, the ""Old Head"", was introduced between 1893 and the conclusion of Queen Victoria's reign in 1901.

Information On The Coins Commissioner:
Born in 1819, Queen Victoria ascended the British throne in 1837, succeeding her uncle, King William IV. Her father, Edward, Duke of Kent and the next brother to William, passed away in 1820, leaving Victoria an infant of only six months. In the course of her reign, Victoria married her cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. He was conferred with the title of Prince Consort in 1857, but unfortunately passed away in 1861. Queen Victoria's reign came to an end with her death in 1901. Following her, the throne was succeeded by her eldest son, Edward VII. Her reign held the distinction of being the longest among all British monarchs until it was surpassed by Queen Elizabeth II.
