Information On The Original Coin:
The farthing coin featuring the symbol of the Wren on its reverse was first introduced during the reign of King George VI. The wren, being the smallest British bird, was selected to complement the lowest denomination coin. This design was initially meant for Edward VIII, but due to his abdication, it was not released under his name. The concept of the farthing dates back to the Anglo-Saxon era when full pennies were divided into ""half pennies"" and ""farthings"".

Information On The Coins Commissioner:
King George VI was born in 1895 and ascended the throne in 1936 following the abdication of his elder brother, Edward VIII, who later became the Duke of Windsor. George VI's reign was marked by the challenges of the Second World War, during which he played a pivotal role in rallying the nation's spirit. His inspirational words during a Christmas Day radio broadcast in 1939 highlighted his resolve, stating, ""A New Year is at hand. We cannot tell what it will bring. If it brings peace, how thankful we shall be. If it brings continued struggle, we shall remain undaunted.” The King witnessed the end of the war and peace but passed away on 6th February 1952 at the age of 56. He was succeeded by his daughter, Princess Elizabeth.
