"Information On The Original Coin:
The silver penny was minted in Lincoln by the moneyer Lelfnoth and falls under the PAXS type. A unique feature of this coin is the reverse inscription which not only mentions the moneyer but also the mint. This was a practical approach to ensure traceability. If any coins were found to be below the standard weight or purity, the issuer could be identified and then penalized accordingly.

Information On The Coins Commissioner:
William I, also famously known as William the Conqueror, was born in Normandy between 1027 and 1028. He was the first Norman king of England and a cousin to Edward the Confessor. In the year 1066, William led an invasion starting at Pevensey, Sussex. The culmination of this invasion was the Battle of Hastings, where King Harold was defeated and subsequently killed by William's forces. During his time as king, William introduced various reforms, and one of the most significant accomplishments of his reign was the compilation of the Domesday Book in 1086.
